Deqin, which literally means "good luck, peace, and tranquility" in Tibetan, is located northwest of Yunnan Province, at the junction of Yunnan, Sichuan, and Tibet. It is the north gate from Yunnan to Tibet and the strategic passage on the Yunnan-Tibet Tea Horse Road. Deqin covers a total land area of 7,290 square kilometers, with an average altitude of 4,270 meters. It has 46 administrative villages and 475 villager groups in 6 townships and 2 towns, with a population of 68,000 consisting of 13 ethnic groups such as Tibetan, Lisu, and Naxi, 81% of which are Tibetans. Limited by the challenging conditions of high altitude, oxygen-thin air, short life expectancy, lagging economic development, high ecological protection pressure, and frequent geological disasters, there were 32 villages affected by poverty in Deqin, 10 of which are deep poverty-stricken villages, with 12,315 needy villagers in 2,813 registered poor households.
China Tourism Group resolutely executes General Secretary Xi Jinping's instructions on poverty alleviation and the decision-making and deployment of the Party Central Committee. Since it provided paired-up assistance to Deqin County in 2017, the joint efforts of all parties have help Deqin County get rid of the title of poverty-stricken county in April 2019.
In 2022, CTG International, under the China Tourism Group, undertook the task of providing assistance to Deqin County. It practices its social responsibilities and completes tasks with high quality and efficiency to actively contribute to the poverty alleviation cause as a central enterprise.
